Family Travel Question:
Q | Do you have some suggestions for a summer road trip east with three older teens?
We want to go on a family road trip heading east from Minnesota over the 4th of July holiday. We have 3 older teenagers. Do you have some great suggestions? Thanks. -Cindy, MN
A | A tip for road tripping With teens
As a family we’re very familiar with monster road trips around the West Coast and most recently, an epic 5,000 km trip around Argentina. On that trip, the “killer app” for us to keep parents and teens happy in the car was finding a podcast to listen to. We’ve regularly used NPR favorites such as This American Life or Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me on our trips between Seattle and British Columbia. For Argentina, we needed something that could hold everyone’s attention for three weeks in the car. My husband found the excellent History Of Rome, loaded a bunch of episodes on an iPod and we were off. Who knew that learning while driving could be so successful?
