Family Travel Question:
Q | What is the best strategy to hit all the sites in DC with kids in tow?
We're ready to hit Washington, DC with our kids (10 & 12) this summer. What is the best strategy to see the sites? -Tracy, MA
A | Affordable Washington D.C. with young kids
Washington, D.C. is one of the best budget-friendly family destinations in our country. Seriously, with many free national museums, there’s something for kids of all ages.
We took our kids to Washington, D.C. when they were five and seven years old and my youngest one still remembers his fun trip riding the train and walking in the National Zoo. Don’t worry that your youngest will not enjoy the trip. She will!
There are so many options for sightseeing in Washington, D.C. that it can be overwhelming. I suggest that you consider your kids’ interests and plan accordingly.
If they are into science, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum will definitely give them fun for a day.
For history buff kids, you can’t go wrong with either the National Museum of American History or National Museum of Natural History.
And for animal lovers, the National Zoo is a fun-filled day that they will remember long after the trip.
