Cancun is safe (and fun) for tourists
If you look closely, the more dramatic stories of danger come from outside of the Zona Hotelera. Stay on the beaten track, which is beautiful and full of lots to see and do, and your biggest worries will be sunburn, undertows, and eating to much great food.
