Baby Beach Kauai, Hawaii

The Kiahuna Plantation is an old-school Hawaiian property that is absolutely perfect for kids of all ages.  It has a massive grass area that is toddler heaven.  There is also a pool that has a sandy, shallow area for tots; the only downside is that the pool is set away from the ocean.  The condo-style rooms make it easy to prepare meals at home.  Plus, the property is a manageable size so quick trips inside for naps and diaper changes are easy.

Read the complete family-friendly hotel review of Kiahuna Planation on Ciao Bambino.  You can make requests right from our page for the best available rates offered by Castle Resorts, who manages some of the units.  I’d also compare that quote with a search on HomeAway or VRBO where some of the owners market their properties directly. Beware, however, in this ownership set up every room has their own decor, so it’s important to check photos and references.

My only caveat about this resort is that the beach in the immediate area has beautiful sand but rough surf conditions for little kids. There, is however, the perfect beach — aptly named Baby Beach — right down the road (you can walk there too). This beach features a naturally protected area without waves where toddlers can go nuts while parents relax.  Absolutely ideal! Once you have your accommodations sorted, be sure and read Kauai with kids activity ideas by Hawaii-based travel writer Kris Bordessa.

Kids seem to be able to spend countless hours on the beach. We always look for beaches less traveled. Much less stressful for parents when kids can play on a less populated beach. Losing sight of a child on a busy beach is a nightmare!
