Family Travel Question:
Q | Any suggestions for fun things to do in Phoenix with teens?
We will be visiting Phoenix in the first week of August with 5 teens and 3 adults. Any suggestions for fun? -Judy, TX
A | Family fun in Phoenix
With Phoenix as your base, the entire state of Arizona is yours for the taking! And although August is a hot time of the year, there are still plenty of outdoor activities that are fun.
A short drive north and you’ll be at one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world–the Grand Canyon. While there, you can take hikes to explore the canyon’s rim or even a half-day mule ride with Canyon Rides. If your family is willing to get up incredibly early (or spend the night), there is also the option of a one-day white-water rafting trip through the Grand Canyon offered by the Hualapai River Runners. We took this trip when we visited the Grand Canyon with my two sons and loved every aspect of our trip.
Another day-trip option that is close to Phoenix is exploring Sedona. With its fabulous red-rock formations and great hiking, biking, and hot-air ballooning opportunities, it’s also a hit with kids and teens. When we went, we used Red Rock Balloon Adventures for a bird’s eye view of this amazing area. It’s again an early morning option, but so worth it.
