Family Travel Question:
Q | What are the best iPhone apps for school-aged kids?
Cell phones have become our atlases, dictionaries, televisions, and trusted advisors - and they can help amuse and teach our children on the road.
A | Favorite iPhone apps for teens on the road
Most traveling teens won’t go very far without their iPhone, iTouch or iPod. We recently wrote about our teens’ favorite iPhone apps which include games like Kitten Jump and Cuberunner that are simple but somehow pretty addictive. The Impossible Quiz is good for brain teasers and Pandora Internet Radio is a favorite for music. They are all free or very low cost and provide hours of fun. They also like to keep up with Facebook using the Facebook for iPhone app.
Although not specifically for the kids, we find that the Where iPhone app comes in really handy when you need to make real-time decisions about where to eat or shop because it searches using very detailed criteria. It will then provide a range of choices with links to reviews and tell you how close each option is to your current location. This was a lifesaver on a recent beach vacation when we discovered one member of the party had forgotten a bathing suit in a hard to find size. Where located a store that could fill our needs and we were on our way to the beach!
