A | Hotels for large families in Washington, D.C.
We’re a family of six, and finding a hotel room that fits us can be one of the most frustrating parts of planning our trip. I used to spend hours and hours scouring hotel sites, only to find when I clicked through to a favorable rate that our family was too big for the room.
A while ago, I discovered a site that has saved me countless hours when searching for roadtrip accommodations. It’s called Six Suitcase Travel, and it has done the searching for those of us traveling with large families. Six Suitcase Travel is arranged geographically; just input the city or attraction you want to stay near, and it will return a list of hotels that have room for families of six or more.
For families of seven or eight, each listing says exactly what you get in each hotel, so while you may not fit in a room with two queens and a sofabed, a room with a king, two queens, and a sofabed may be just right.
Doing a quick Six Suitcase Travel search, the Homewood Suites Alexandria has rooms with 1 King, 2 Doubles, and sofa sleeper, and is just 7 miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport. Homewood Suites is one of our family’s favorite places to stay with its hot breakfast, evening receptions, and large suites that include kitchens. I’ve outlined some of our family’s favorite large-family hotels at Travels with Children.
If that hotel doesn’t work for you, see what else Six Suitcase Travel can find for you. Enjoy Washington, D.C.!
