Pool at Beaches Negril, Jamaica

When you put together the requests: all-inclusive, good beach, tennis, good food, then one hotel group comes to mind and that’s the Sandals-owned Beaches Resorts.  While certainly not the cheapest, in my experience, they deliver the best-quality service and activities for the price.

Beaches Resorts are located in Negril, Jamaica and on the island of Provo in Turks & Caicos. Where you live in the United States will determine the cheapest place to fly to for your family. Both resorts have excellent food service, and a variety of  ‘a la carte restaurants, as well as large buffets of fresh and healthy foods, a kids buffet and fun outdoor dining venues. Both have tennis courts, but in the Caribbean in summer it’s very, very hot and you will probably prefer to play outside in the early morning. Please look at this more in-depth review of the Beaches Resorts and their family amenities.

Although both properties offer the same basic services, the Beaches Negril in Jamaica is smaller, more intimate and closer to the fun nightlife and culture of Jamaica. I like it for those reasons and the resort’s in-house tour staff, Island Adventures, does a fantastic job of offering escorted excursions to Jamaica’s cultural and historic sites. They also can provide you with a day of horseback riding on the beach, a calm river rafting adventure, or even time at a waterpark, though the resort’s Pirate Island water play-zone and swimming pools.

The Beaches Turks & Caicos is more spread out with more rooms, larger family suites, and a nearby golf course. The island is known for its excellent snorkeling and diving facilities and the resort has snorkel gear and a lot of water sports for every member of the family. The island of Provo has few cultural attractions, making it less interesting to the explorers in your group. However, there is more space to roam on property and more restaurants and variety if you are determined to enjoy sun, sand, and the perks of an all-inclusive.

Another property that I would highly-recommend if tennis is a priority is the wonderful new Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. It has a fantastic tennis clinic and great food, a lovely area for swimming on the Saint Lucie Bay, and easy access to the nearby Atlantic Beaches. Our review of a multi-generational visit to the Club Med Sandpiper Bay has more details about this fun and truly memorable experience.
