Just a five and a half hour drive south of Atlanta, the Gulf Coast offers many kid-friendly activities. Pensacola, Florida is one of America’s oldest settlements. Wander around Historic Pensacola and see men and women in their period dress while they tell stories about the area. Visit Ft. Pickens, a fort that was completed in 1834 and used to protect the Pensacola Bay. The Blue Angels call Pensacola home and if you are lucky you can catch their aerial acrobatics during their weekly practices held at one of the world’s largest aviation museums. Besides restored planes and helicopters at the National Naval Aviation Museum, there are many activities that were created with families in mind like the indoor play structure and flight simulators. Spend some time sitting on the white beaches and watch your kids splash in the water.  If the beach isn’t your thing, there are five Florida State Parks in the area that have trails to hike, rivers to float down, and wildlife to spot.
